As the world confronts converging pressures of a changing climate, a growing population, strained natural resources, and widening gaps in food security, artificial intelligence has emerged as one of the most powerful levers available to agriculture. The promise of AI will only be realized if it is developed responsibly, deployed equitably, and grounded in the realities of those who feed the world. The United States stands at the vanguard of AI development and feeding the world. That leadership continues to be redefined by an annual gathering of stakeholders to close the gaps between these two important areas to the 21st century need to feed a growing global population.
The 2027 AI in Ag. Conference is hosted by University of Kentucky (UK) and Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture, Food and Environment (MG-CAFE) in Lexington, Kentucky. This conference builds on the strong vision of agInnovation South and USDA Multistate groups that have championed the hosting of a meeting that brings together stakeholders that include research faculty and scientists, industry leaders, students, farmers and practitioners within the agroecosystems to foster ideas exchange at the intersection of artificial intelligence (AI) and agricultural production and processing sector in the US. This year’s theme is “AI FOR AGRICULTURE, IMPACT FOR ALL – INNOVATE, COLLABORATE, AND EMPOWER.” This theme is expected to drive the sharing of innovation in AI-driven agriculture, educate on novel AI solutions, discuss the merits, risks, and vulnerabilities of agricultural systems within the dynamic framework of AI solutions being developed, and foster new collaborations that will empower participants for the future.
Following successful conferences at Auburn University (2022), University of Florida (2023), Texas A&M University (2024), Mississippi State University (2025), and North Carolina State University (2026), the 2027 meeting is poised for significant regional and national impact.
